Two 19th c. watercolor views, attributed to Joseph Shoemaker Russell (1795-1860), born in New Bedford, MA, (note: Nina Fletcher Little collected his watercolors of New Bedford and Philadelphia), the first view is of a long building with two separate doorways (possibly a Quaker meeting house), and two ladies in long skirts and bonnets, dated “1848” in lower right corner, some foxing, overall good, 7 1/4″ x 10″; the second view is an outdoor scene of young gentlemen, in what appears to be a campus with connected buildings and a bell tower, 6 1/2″ x 9 3/4″; both laid down on card stock.
