Handwritten journal written by Sister Mariette Esty, a member of the Mt. Lebanon and Enfield Shakers, written from 1888-1899, about Shaker principles and philosophies in prose, with chapters entitled little kindnesses, hope, perseverance, rules for practice; also meeting sermons, as some begin, “dear young friends, as this is a meeting for mental culture”, most reads like prose, journal is numbered at top 1 through 242, with handwriting on the first 75 pages, hardcover, 9 1/2″ x 7 5/8″.
