“Shakers, their mode of Worship”, “Lith. of D.W. Kellogg & Co., Hartford, Conn.”, hand-colored, depicting Shaker Sisters and Brothers dancing at a Sunday meeting, with worldly woman sitting on bench at lower left, matted with 19th c. molded frame and gilt liner, 10 7/8″ x 13 3/4″ (sight).

Note: “This looks to me like a variant of the D. W. Kellogg Shaker dance print at the Connecticut Historical Society. Although some details are so similar that they appear to have been traced line for line, I see what you mean about the worldly woman’s dress. Her shawl is missing, her entire bonnet has been swapped for a hat that appears to have been copied from the Shaker dance print by Pendleton. The hat is so prominent that it displaces the last woman on the left. In the Fertig print the entire scene is encased by a double line instead of a single line as at CHS. I think this entire scene has been drawn anew, though I would guess without having seen it that it is a period print by Kellogg. There are so many versions of this scene that I’m not surprised to see a new variant every once in a while. (My count is now at 20.)”
