Pine, original bittersweet red painted finish, single board lift lid, hand-wrought strap hinges, inside till box on the left side, evidence of a missing drawer below and a partitioned section under, finely dovetailed case, shaped cast iron carrying handles on both sides of the case, simple molded and applied base finely dovetailed in classic Shaker style, (note: appears to be some blemishes, in-painting, and other minor imperfections), Hancock, MA, c. 1820-1830, 24 3/4″ h, 48 3/4″ w, (ex. Edgar and Beverly Crete, who worked for the Canterbury, NH Shakers in the 1950’s, relocated to Hancock in 1957 and became friends with Mary Dahm, returning to Canterbury in 1959; David Newell collection, Ashfield, MA).
