Lot 39: Writing Desk Box

Pine, original red stained finish, single board lid with tapered (from the middle) battens under the lid, attached with hand forged screws, finely dovetailed interior till on right side for ink and quill pens, original lock and lock plate, diamond shaped bone escutcheon, Harvard, MA, (note: this desk box is attributed to the Shaker Workshop of Elder Brother Thomas Hammond, 1791-1880), c. 1840-1850, excellent condition, 4 1/2″ h, 17″ w, 12″ d.
