Description
Walnut in original finish, table top style, carved clamp with threaded thumbscrew, steel pin to hold stretcher, sliding horizontal yarn holders, each with a carved thumbscrew tightener, c. 1860, (note: purchased at WHA Shaker auction 9/22/91, lot 298), 10″ h, 13″ l (closed), 33″ l (fully opened); Black ash splint, carved maple hoop handle with patina, round top and squared base, single wrapped rim, one corner of base shows some reweaving, otherwise good overall, 12″ h (to top of handle), 9 1/2″ dia (at rim), 5″ sq (at base), (sold at the Albany Auction Gallery, 8/22/93, lot 194, ex. Upton collection).
