Pine, original deep red painted finish, rectangular box with turned handles extending above, inset lid, 8″ l, 5 1/2″ w, with carved arched handle, and secured with two small carved twist locks, lamb’s tongue chamfered legs on two large 3″ carved rockers, turned and tapered plug on one end, wood pegged, and symmetrically nailed construction, Enfield or Canterbury, NH, c. 1840, (note: one of the very few known churns of this type, in exceptional painted condition), 29″ h, 29 1/2″ l, 12 1/2″ w.
