Winter bonnet, covered in deep purple velvet, lined in lighter purple silk, small purple velvet bow on back at neck, 7″ h, 8″ l; in original white papered, oval cardboard hat box, with “Alice Howland” written on side, (note: a rare bonnet in excellent condition), with note card reading “Shaker Bonnett belonging to (Alice Howland) of the Canterbury Shaker Village. Given to Marilyn Phillips by Dear Friend (Shaker Ethel Hudson) of the Canterbury Village, 1975.”, (ex. Marilyn Phillips collection).
