Cherry, pine secondary wood, ogee cove molded top, over three flanking dovetailed top drawers, with central carved fan, small brass pull over four graduated long drawers, set on a separate base with one long drawer over three flanking bottom drawers, with central carved fan, deep scrolled base and sides, cabriole legs on tall pad feet, original bail brass pulls with round back plates, 6′ 4 1/4″ h, 34″ w (upper case), 36 1/2″ w (lower case), 19″ d, some repairs to lips and an old refinish, (Note: purchased by Dr. John Rowley of West Hartford, CT, “from a Floyd Thoms of Litchfield, Conn. who bought it from Mrs. Plumb formerly Bissell in whose family it had been for many generations…according to Mr. Thoms the brasses are original and he was told by Sacks, a well known New York City antiques dealer, that he was positive they are real and original.”, from a letter of Dr. Rowley dated Oct 8, ’51 which accompanies the highboy.
