Bound handwritten daily “account of Last Two Month’s Service in U.S. Army by H.L. Estabrooks 1864.”, starts September 18 and ends October 31, 1864, a gripping account of his capture (Capt. Henry L. Estabrooks, 2nd Mass. Infantry) and his daring escape from a POW Train (after leaving Libby Prison, Richmond, VA) in 1864, it includes colored pencil sketches of his travails, also includes photographs of Capt. Estabrooks before capture and after his escape, as well as his discharge paper dated November 7, 1864.
