Ellsworth (American, 1802-1874), of “Deacon and Mrs. Beers in Williamstown, Mass…”, (also on back “Painted by Josiah Brown King…, a misrepresentation”), appears to be original frame (small veneer piece missing), purchased at Sotheby’s Fine Americana Auction, April, 1978; exhibited at the Morris Museum, NJ Collector Series, April-June 1991, The Fertig Folk Art Collection, 3 1/4″ x 2 1/4″ (both sight), 4 1/4″ x 7″ (frame), (ex. Sam Herrup; ex. Sotheby’s Auction, Lot 528; ex. Fertig collection).
