Signed “Laning 1854” (William Laning, American, SC, 1837 – 1860) l.r., Laning was well known for his still lifes, this features three fish in a blue-rimmed Leeds bowl with crackers and an onion, minor touch up in the shadow of the onion, reverse stamped in ink “Wm. A Wisong’s Baltimore”, written in ink about stamp “$5.00 for picture 3.00 do frame”, unframed, 12″ x 16″, (ex. Robert Wheaton estate, Cumberland Foreside, ME).
