Oil on canvas, “Lancer”, three-masted sailing vessel flying the American flag, sailors climbing the rigging, relined, (Note: black light shows some spot restoration in the clouds, left-hand side water, and minor spots in a few of the sails, overall good condition), old labels “Kennedy & Co., 785 5th Ave., New York, Rare Prints”, on the back and the gilded frame, typed “New Bedford Whaler, 'Lancer', anonymous, #W9636″ on label, New Bedford School, possibly William Bradford, from a Fairhaven, Massachusetts family, 20 1/4″ x 30 1/4”.
