Description
Shaped trunk with brass buttons and iron straps, with tin safe deposit boxes, and an engraving of Gideon Welles: trunk is signed on one side “G. Welles, Hartford.” and “G.W.” on the other side, labeled with the trunk manufacturer; and three tin safe deposit boxes, one marked “Henry Green”, a black freeman who worked for the Welles family, and a book of colored insignias.
