Rare early 19th c. Chinese Buddhist table cover, finely woven blue silk embroidered with gold thread, circular roundel symbols with leafy meandering vines, stylized ocean waves on both ends, 7′ 2″ x 2′ 11″; and a queen size bed cover, with chrysanthemums and other flowers in gold thread, borders with black silk thread, embroidered and printed on a blue silk background, 11′ 1″ x 4′ 1″ h; both brought from China pre-1920 by William F. Spinney, head of the Chinese Imperial Maritime Customs Service off and on from 1875-1905, passed down through the Brooks family of Salem, Massachusetts.
