Exceptional ship model of the three-masted whaling ship, the “Barnstable”, intricately carved masts, spars, and detailed with anchors and chains, dory, carved pulleys and deadeyes, crows nest, painted black, some ropework needs restringing but almost all intact, fitted on a mahogany platform, ship measures approximately 33″ h, 50″ l, platform measures 3″ h, 41″ l, 10″ w, [The “Barnstable” was built in Boston in 1840 and was outfitted as a whaler, and sailed from New Bedford in May of 1851 (through August of 1855) under Captain Roswell M. Coon for the Pacific and Arctic, and very successfully sailed as a whaler through 1864, when it was sold to New York for Merchant Service.], (ex.
