Elegant New England arrowback, comb back rocker, in original decorative painted finish, black on red, with many yellow accents in pinstriping and floral fourishes, black spotted and shaped seat, paper label under seat reads “Made in 1813 For Abigail Sherman mother of Abel W. Sherman Mrs. Abigail Sherman married 1813, this chair made for the wedding present”, found in an estate in Norwell, MA by Fred Leonardi, picker/dealer, excellent condition, (ex. Dr. Oscar and Lois Hollander collection, Falmouth, MA).
