Description
Georgian gold and carnelian carved intaglio, fob seal ring, exhibits an eagle with shield, an anchor, and a foal, measures size 5, with minor wear, (Provenance: descent in the family; Dr. David Wolfe). [Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry (1785-1819) was born in South Kingston, Rhode Island. The son of USN Captain Christopher Perry (1761-1818), and older brother of Commodore Matthew C. Perry. Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry won the War of 1812, Battle of Lake Erie, in September of 1813. Defeating and capturing a superior British Naval Fleet.
