Tiger and bird’s-eye maple, old stained and varnish finish, (possibly painted with a later white at one time), tall finely turned finials, four shaped slats, flat curvilinear arms, green taped seat, old Shaker repair with a screw at back of right arm, old repair at back of left rocker, straight grain maple rockers fitted and wooden pegged into front and back stiles, New Lebanon, NY, c. 1830-1840, 16″ seat h, 45″ overall h.

Note:
Figured maple shows splits and cracks more easily than straight grain maple, so it’s not unusual to find repairs on these rare chairs.
