Lot 223: Sister’s Bonnet

Maple, original red with early dark brown walnut Shaker overpaint, turned back posts, shaped and raised 1/4″ point over two concentric circular grooves, four graduated ladders with beveled tops, rare extended teardrop shaped writing arm on the right, and flat wide turned arm on left, original ash splint seat with patina, posts are pegged into the rockers, Watervliet, NY, c. 1830-1840, 17 1/2″ seat h, 41 1/2″ overall h.
