Cherry, original dark red stained finish, flame finials, three graduated and beveled slats, woven caned seats, (note: were originally cane seated and then later woven with rush seats as there is evidence of grooved wear on the seat rails, and then recaned as they are now), tilters on bottom of back stiles, (note: these are an exceptional pair of classic Harvard Shaker community tilt chairs), tag on back of second slat in Ed Clerk’s handwriting “Pair of Harvard, Mass Shaker tilter chairs made of cherry wood, originally purchased at Skinner’s Auction in Bolton, Mass in the 1980’s”, very tall seat height at 19”, 43 3/4” overall h, (Ed Clerk collection).
